Description:
Are you looking for a role that will challenge you? Do you want to be in a role where you will be accountable to the Director, Corporate Radiation Protection for the effective implementation of Radiation Protection in support of the missions at Douglas Point and Gentilly-1? If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you! Our Douglas Point and Gentilly-1 locations are looking for a Manager, Radiation Protection based out of our Chalk River site to be responsible for managing the associated resources and coordination of services in an efficient, safe, compliant and timely manner.
What will you be doing!
- Setting objectives, completing performance reviews and following the disciplinary process for all direct reports within the line.
- Collaborating with CNL union representatives to influence positive employee relations, managing any correspondence and issues raised for staff with the line.
- Setting and implementing development plans for direct reports.
- Ensuring the appropriate deployment of human resources to achieve goals.
- Selecting and approving new hires for the department and conduct terminations within due process.
- Developing and managing the budget for the business line.
- Ensuring staff are trained and qualified for their role.
- Ensuring the compliant and consistent implementation of the Corporate RP Program within the mission.
- Ensuring safety based observations are performed to maintain high radiological standards within the mission.
- Maintaining open and clear communications with the Corporate RP Program, facilitating staff to engage in program change initiatives.
- Implementing improvement initiatives and champion continuous improvement.
- Providing sufficient and competent RP resources to support delivery of the mission.
- Engaging in RP departmental initiatives to recruit, train and retain staff.
- Working collaboratively with others in a team environment or influences others to work together effectively to achieve shared goals.
- Providing expert health physics and radiological protection advice and guidance on important technical radiological matters to senior, line and facility management and external clients.
- Disseminating operating experience (OPEX) as applicable.
- Arranging and leading department meetings, staff meetings and meetings with internal groups to develop strategies to complex RP related problems, and discuss events or adverse trends.
- Providing input to the project team, senior Management and Executive on return to work after RP related events and conditions.
- Identifying and resolving highly complex, specialized and/or significant highly technical issues across the department and company-wide related to radiation protection.
- Guiding the work and providing supervision and guidance for a very large team of operational Health Physicists, RP Supervisors and RP Surveyors across multiple CNL sites. Includes scheduling and assigning tasks to meet overall business plan objectives within cost, quality and time requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
