The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s Crops and Irrigation Branch is seeking a highly motivated and innovative leader with strong communication and coaching skills to lead the Production Technology Regulatory Team.
As part of the Production Technology Unit, the Regulatory Manager is responsible for leading branch responsibilities related to pest biosecurity program delivery, policy work, and legislation including The Weed Control Act, The Plant Health Act and The Pest Control Products (Saskatchewan) Act. Reporting to the Director, Production Technology you will lead a team of specialists and administrative professionals in the development and delivery of a crop pest and pesticide regulatory framework and develop and refine processes and policies to meet client needs, branch objectives and ministry goals.
As our candidate of choice, you are a strategic, innovative and collaborative leader who has experience leading diverse teams of professionals. You are detail oriented and experienced developing and refining processes and policies and helping people learn, understand and embrace them. You have experience with program delivery, and interpreting and implementing legislation and regulations, preferably related to western Canadian agriculture. You have knowledge of crop production including a general knowledge of crop pest and crop production terminologies and scientific principals.
As part of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture’s leadership team, you are expected to be collaborative, innovative and client driven. You will demonstrate the ability to understand the changing needs of clients and drive forward the strategic direction of the unit, branch and ministry with a clear focus on the Saskatchewan Growth Plan Targets. Typically, the competencies, knowledge and skills for this position will be obtained through a bachelor’s or master’s level university degree in agriculture, natural or applied sciences, business or law as well as demonstrated leadership experience. Alternative relevant training or career experience may also be taken into consideration.
