Description:

A fantastic opportunity has become available at Nationwide for a passionate and ambitious individual to bring specialist risk & control expertise to enable our CIOs to operate and execute effective controls and make informed risk-based decisions relating to good customer outcomes.

This role is within the CIO & Change Risk Management Team and will primarily support the Member Technology Delivery CIO Function closely interlocked with our Retail business. The team is responsible for the provision of subject matter expertise, objective advice and actionable insight to support Portfolio CIOs understand, evaluate and improve the risk and control environment as it relates to the management of their portfolio of technology and change, considering:

  • Aligning investment, roadmaps and prioritisation to meet business strategy, capabilities and requirements;
  • Engineering new solutions and delivering change;
  • Operating technology and service management; and
  • Operating a performant CIO Portfolio (e.g. Finance, People, Service etc.).

ABOUT YOU

You’ll need to operate autonomously, working collaboratively across risk partnering, and be able to adapt to a challenging and changing environment through a growth mindset. As a minimum requirement you’ll have:

  • Proven knowledge of the risks arising from Technology, Information Security, Data, Cloud & Transformation.
  • Working experience in the management of risk & controls for Systems, Platforms & Change Delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience in risk management, controls assessment and risk reporting in complex environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, relationship management and influencing skills.
  • Possess an industry recognised professional qualification relevant to the role.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Activities vary from performing risk and control assessments to inform strategic change decision making, through to analysing incidents and loss events to identify root causes and opportunities for control improvements.
You’ll be pivotal in supporting CIOs to ensure that they operate technology and deliver change in a way that keeps Nationwide and its Customers safe.
You’ll work closely with Platform Managers, Engineers, Architects, IT Service Managers, Product Owners and Programme Managers who operate technology and deliver change.
We’ll need you to understand our Enterprise Risk Management Framework and Policy landscape. However, more importantly you’ll bring significant experience in directly managing technology and delivering change and / or having provided specialist technology and change risk management insight and advice to bring fresh valuable external perspectives.
In fact, one of your key areas of focus in the first six months will be establishing a credible and trusted relationship with a Portfolio CIO and their team. You’ll evaluate their risk and controls landscape, understand their needs against the CIO & Change Risk Management service catalogue and execute at pace against priority deliverables.
