POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Manager, Safety Systems at Flair plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our operations with Transport Canada regulations. Reporting to the Director, Safety, Security and Compliance the Manager Safety Systems is responsible for leading and coordinating key aspects of Flair’s Safety Management System (SMS), safety manuals, training programs, and high-risk safety case investigations. In this role, The Manager, Safety Systems, will work closely with the Director (and all VPs/Directors throughout the organization), to drive innovative safety processes and initiatives, all while ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements. The Manager Safety Systems will serve as a back-up to the Director for all related Safety occurrences and job functions.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an SMS (Safety Management System) environment for an airline or in a comparable senior-level safety position in a 703-705 operation.
- Strong background in risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated expertise in safety and quality assurance.
- In-depth experience within the aviation sector.
- Strong working knowledge of aviation legislation and ICAO annexes.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of safety management principles and best practices.
- Specialized training and expertise in Safety Management Systems.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to assess and solve safety-related issues.
- Proven ability to motivate and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Competencies:

Responsibilities:
The Manager, Safety Systems, is responsible for but not limited to:
- Developing and maintaining a robust reporting system to collect information related to hazards, incidents, and accidents affecting safety.
- Identifying hazards and conducting safety management analyses to ensure the safety of our operations.
- Participating in investigations and analyzing the root causes of hazards, incidents, and accidents within the Safety Management System.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions taken in response to hazards, incidents, and accidents.
- Staying informed about industry safety concerns and assessing their impact on our Airline Operating Certificate (AOC).
- Assessing and determining the adequacy of training required for personnel involved in the safety management system.
- Assisting in administering and coordinating the SMS across the organization, ensuring consistency in its application.
- Collaborating with SMS operations to implement practical solutions and solve problems.
- Establishing and maintaining communication with Regulatory Agencies while adhering to Transport Canada and Quality Assurance audit standards.
- Generating critical reports for various operational groups based on reported case data.
- Assisting in coordinating safety meetings and supporting the safety committee when necessary.
- Developing modules for Flair Safety Network (FSN) as needed.
- Conducting surveys and GAP analysis to identify strengths and weaknesses in the SMS system
