The Manager Software Engineer is responsible for overall team delivery of requirements gathering, architecture and design, development, quality assurance, delivery and internal and external support for the platforms and products in their portfolio. Will take local responsibility for the execution, and success of technical projects, operating with scale, speed, and quality. Working with other key technology and business leaders, the selected individual will establish the best engineering practices and influence them through solid design decisions, processes, and tools across the broader engineering organization. The candidate will oversee multiple teams of mid to senior level engineers and will work with other areas in the Digital Customer organization to constantly evolve our strategy to produce better end user outcomes and relevant offerings in the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather key platform requirements and product features from the different business, security, technology key

stakeholders.

  • Determine work requirements, priorities, and best use of resources for development projects as well as for

unplanned incidents.

  • Participate in the planning and prioritization of multiple projects and in the application architecture planning,

including system partitioning and framework design.

  • Create/review detailed estimates for projects, including resource allocation, timelines, and budget.
  • Review technical decisions to ensure they meet designated design goals.
  • Develop solutions to CDW coding standards and quality.
  • Develop and mentor the team through coaching, feedback, and performance conversations.
  • Act as the lead to assist with the technological direction of the team.
  • Participate in the planning, prioritization and resource allocation for managing workflow and projects.
  • Participate in application architecture and framework design.
  • Make technical decisions to meet the design goals articulated in product road map
  • Acts as a partner with peers and key stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic technological planning to achieve business goals by prioritizing technology initiatives and

determining future direction of the group’s technical strategy

  • Develop and contribute to our business plans, staffing, budgeting, and process decisions that support both

long-term and short-term objectives of the group

  • Work with team leads to continuously upgrade platforms, prioritizing initiatives that have the biggest impact on

technical debt for the products

  • Partner closely with product leaders on strategic planning process, aligning technology vision and strategy with

product and business direction, customer service strategy, growth strategies, and talent strategies

  • Own non-functional requirements, technology standards, architectural direction, technical documentation, and

quality of the code

  • Maintain the highest levels of security, promoting a culture and practice of security awareness
  • Assess and monitor the impact of new technologies on our markets and product lines.
  • Develop and mentor the team through coaching, feedback, and performance conversations.
