For this role we are looking for the successful candidate to be hybrid from our Galway City office (2-3 days per week).
Summary:
The Conversational AI team are helping drive major changes in Self and Assisted Services to deliver better outcomes, better experiences and lower costs. We are looking for a talented Development Manager to join the Conversational AI team, managing a high performing back-end team, to build products and services that bring the benefits of Generative AI to Genesys customers.
As a senior member of the Conversational AI team, you will be leading a team of Developers building AI powered conversational solutions. You will be contributing to the overall architecture and code base of the AI Platform. You will be working on tools and infrastructure challenges, involving machine learning and software engineering.
You will be joining a collaborative team of like-minded people, who thrive on technical problem solving and relish design challenges. Working in an Agile team environment, our teams are full-stack, with capabilities to deliver full features across Front-End, Back-End, Eventing and Storage layers. Genesys Software Engineers think through implementation details of scale, security and usability. We write code in Java , Python, JavaScript and, and work with many technologies, including DynamoDB, SQS, Kafka, Jenkins, GIT etc, all on AWS.
You are a hands-on development manager, who spends approx. 25%-50% of your time developing code, or a senior technical leader who wishes to move into Engineering Management.
What you will do:

Carry out line management of a high performing software engineering team

  • Schedule regular 1-1’s with each team member
  • Work with each individual to create and develop goals
  • Provide mentoring to address gaps in skills and behaviours
  • Provide timely feedback to individuals when the opportunity arises
  • Carry out performance reviews and career planning
  • Staff the team to deliver the product roadmap

Lead the team to deliver product features

  • Ensure adherence to the SDLC process
  • Assign Feature Leads and ensure they are carrying out all Feature Lead responsibilities
  • Ensure the team align with priorities defined by Product Management and Engineering Leadership
  • Ensure the team maintain required quality standards in the code base

Product

  • Have a thorough understanding of Conversational AI features and Use Cases
  • Have a good understanding of all relevant services in the Conversational AI domain
  • Participate actively in Chartering, Storyboarding and feature check-ins
  • Represent Engineering in the 3-in-a-box process

Service

  • Have a deep understanding of the service architecture
  • Contribute to the service code base
  • Be an active PR reviewer
  • Ensure focus on the resiliency, availability and performance of the service

What you will bring to the role:

  • Experience in a software engineering team lead or development manager role
  • Hands-on experience as a developer, preferably working with Java
  • Experience of Cloud Native technologies, preferably AWS
  • Previous experience of Scrum, CI/CD

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of Chat Bots or other Conversation AI tools
  • Contact Centre domain experience
  • Practical knowledge and understanding of Generative AI
  • Track record of developing & growing teams
