The Manager, Software Engineering manages the analysis, design, programming, debugging, modification, and delivery of software for commercial and end user applications. The Manager builds relationships and provides services to meet the needs of clients and takes responsibility for improving processes that are negatively affecting customer satisfaction. The Manager analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact they have on the business providing solutions to address technology and business issues.
This position has corporate functional leadership obligations and is responsible for supervising hiring, career development, and day-to-day team and project management. The Manager will also be required to carry out other duties, projects, or activities as specified by their management.
This Manager will be managing two teams dedicated to Payment Accuracy and Editing with approximately 8 direct reports.

Location: Remote US – ability to accommodate Eastern/Central Time Zones

What will you be doing?

  • Managing two teams dedicated to Payment Accuracy and Editing Services
  • Facilitating Scrum Master responsibilities by leading daily stand ups for each team
  • Managing 2 teams with different tech stacks – Java and .NET
  • Responsible for the corporate functional relationships of all team members that report to you
  • You will be working with both internal and external teams to deliver solutions based on the proposed roadmap
  • Leading overall delivery responsibilities and proactively working to reduce roadblocks the teams may encounter
  • Following and promoting Agile practices across multiple teams
  • Ensuring that the teams participate in daily stand ups, conduct retrospectives, code reviews, etc.
  • Defining and tracking team metrics
  • Managing and monitoring the percentage of each team’s time dedicated to new development, maintenance, etc.
  • Monitoring efforts to eliminate duplicate design and promote solutions that reduce or eliminate technical debt
  • Analyzing trends in technology and assessing the impact of how the emerging technologies may impact product delivery
  • Coaching software engineers with their current responsibilities, as well as, career aspirations

What are the qualifications, skills, & experience of an ideal candidate?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field of study or the equivalent in documented work experience
  • 8+ years of relevant technical and business experience in IT systems development management in a technology and/or health care environment
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams and products in an Agile environment
  • Background in software development
  • Prior experience in a Scrum Master or Project manager function
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients/vendors
  • Proven understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Proven understanding of web development methodologies, application design, navigation, and information architecture
  • Proven understanding of data modeling, relational databases, data structures and design
  • Ability to launch and deliver multiple, concurrent IT projects on time and within budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience leading team in an AWS environment is a plus
  • Project forecasting experience is a plus
  • Extensive knowledge of the health care industry is a plus
  • Hands on development experience is a plus
