Description:

The Manager, Strategic Steering & Governance will predominately be responsible for two key functions be strategy and governance. They will support the NZ Leadership team with the implementation of the market business strategy, market performance and insights with a focus on profitable growth through effective business.
In addition, the role will manage the corporate governance structure within the company, including ensuring the company is working within a robust and coherent governance framework.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Strategy inclusive of business development and pricing strategy.
  • Market reviews and insights including competitor benchmarking.
  • Secretary for NZ Circle and governance of all committees.
  • Executive reporting oversight and key point of contact for all senior counterparts from the region and headquarter counterparts.
  • Company by-laws and policy governance.
  • Second Line monitoring and oversight.
  • Primary contact for all legal counterparts, internal and external.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, economics, Law or similar.
  • 5 years financial services industry and/or corporate governance experience.
  • Understanding of legal structures and basic knowledge of company secretary responsibilities preferred.
  • Experience in relationship management or consulting role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience working within a large multinational company preferred.
  • Experience working with and leading audits and legal reviews preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to use independent judgement to make risk-based decisions.
  • Possess a high level of personal responsibility and integrity.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
