Mō te tūranga | About the Role
We are seeking a curious and committed individual to deliver solvency and climate change-related stress testing for Westpac.
Working with a wide range of stakeholders across the bank, you will have the opportunity to see the ‘big picture’ of how the bank operates in the face of recession, climate change and other emerging risks, while appreciating different perspectives for streamlining solutions.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will get to work on some interesting ‘hot’ topics which get reported to the Executive team, Board and Regulator. The role will also develop your expertise in regulatory capital, credit risk, provisioning, stress testing and other Quantitative Risk Management activities.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

We are ideally looking for a Chartered Accountant (or equivalent) with strong technical skills in external accounting, management reporting and forecasting, modelling and analysis. You will be able to demonstrate how you effectively communicate, consult and advise senior management in your current role.

  • You will be an experienced people leader and comfortable navigating in a large complex corporate environment
  • Tertiary qualification (Accounting/ Economics/ Quantitative or other relevant degree) or equivalent business experience
  • Ideally you will have expertise in Basel, RBNZ BPRs (BS2B), APS113 and IFRS standards
  • Demonstrated ability to influence the business to ensure Risk policies and guidelines are complied with
  • Demonstrated ability to provide coaching for performance uplift
  • Advanced SAS, SQL, R, Excel with VBA, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Research and development experience in credit risk, statistical modelling, finance or related field desirable
  • Aptitude for data management, analysis and manipulation.
