Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, Students Engagement, the Manager, Student Engagement provides leadership and management for student conversion and orientation activities, co-curricular and volunteer programming as well as other strategic programs and initiatives that foster opportunities for student engagement and leadership development. This position leads collaboratively with students, staff and faculty from across the campus to develop, implement and maintain activities and programs that lead to increased student engagement and improved academic success/retention. Activities include implementing a systematic and comprehensive approach to addressing the unique and complex needs of a diverse student body in a manner that is intentional, integrated and enriches their overall educational experience.
Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Education and/or Leadership or other relevant discipline.
  • Minimally five (5) years of recent related experience in progressively senior positions in a student-centred area within a higher education setting.
  • Considerable Supervisory experience within a unionized environment.
  • Comprehensive experience in student engagement and in delivering diverse programs to post-secondary students.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing programs in a higher education institution.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in enrolment management.
  • Considerable experience in planning virtual and in person small and large-scaled events.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills and a working knowledge of effective decision-making and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Possess a working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis techniques.
  • Demonstrated experience in post-secondary education management systems e.g. Workday, Banner or other student information systems.
  • Skilled in transitioning face-to-face programs into new virtual student experiences.
  • Strong intercultural competencies and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of other cultures and community groups, their history, current matters, norms and relevant customs.
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.
  • Exercise discretion and good judgment in all contexts and to maintain confidentiality.

Salary Range:
$47.09 - $69.07 per hour
Pay Grade:
Admin Paygrade 10
Compensation beyond the mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employers’ Council Secretariat (PSEC).
