Description:

Ranked among the world’s top universities. NTU Entrepreneurship Academy (NTUpreneur) provides education within the University and the region. The Manager, Student Venture Builder is responsible for leading and implementing the existing and new initiatives to drive, facilitate and execute new venture creation of NTU student community. The incumbent is responsible for facilitating collaboration between NTU community and external stakeholders, such as designers, protoyping and engineering companies and industries to deliver and transform concepts on paper into reality. The incumbent will facilitate to connect NTU students to available resources (for example, equipment) and facilities (Innovation Ports and Makers’ Labs) on campus. The incumbent will work with the relevant managers of these resources across NTU, to provide the necessary support to advise, mentor and coach teams on prototype and MVP (minimum viable product) conceptualisation, development, verification and validation.
The incumbent will work closely with the Lead of the Doctorate Programme, to support the Academic Services of the new Doctorate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme. He/ She will provide support for the curriculum review exercise and will work with the various NTUpreneur teams and the various Offices in the university on the promotion, student recruitment and delivery of the Doctorate Programme, especially in supporting Doctoral candidates’ technology commercialisation plans.
Key Responsibilities

Develop framework to accelerate student’s venture creation

  • Work with internal stakeholders from departments and Colleges across NTU and external parties (consultants) to design and develop a student-centric and sustainable venture builder support framework
  • Develop and streamline effective workflows and processes
  • Draft quarterly management and evaluation reports for the Management

Provide guidance and support in the design, building, integration and testing of prototypes and MVPs

  • Provide technical advice and guidance to support students in their design, protyping and building MVPs
  • Share knowledge on industry practices and statutory requirements to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and industry regulations
  • Act as a linkage between students and the relevant internal stakeholders to leverage on institutional knowledge and expertise
  • Organise workshops to enhance students’ knowledge in prototype development

Oversee awards and grants, budget and resource administration

  • Plan and oversee the operating budget and other resources to ensure optimization
  • Develop framework and guidelines for awards and grants administration

Provide academic support to Doctorate candidates

  • Lead venture support for Doctorate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation (DEI) candidates
  • Provide academic support services to the DEI programme, including recruitment and admission, timetabling, prepare contracts and facilitate payment to faculty/ instructors
  • Provide assistance to faculty/ instructors’ on venture building related matters, and work closely across teams to support overall goals and initiatives of NTUpreneur

Key Qualifications/ Competencies

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, Industry Design or related disciplines
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in university and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Knowledge in entrepreneurship, start-up development and ecosystem
  • Knowledge of best practices in venture support in world class universities
  • Knowledge in government grants, and other available support from related agencies for startups in Singapore
  • Experience in budget planning, managing and processing claims
  • Experience in fact finding and analysing data
  • Demonstrated ability in managing and delivering multi and interdisciplinary product design projects
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
