Manager of Subscription Strategy, Investor’s Business Daily
The Marketing team is responsible for growing the subscriber base of Dow Jones products globally, across WSJ, Barron’s, MarketWatch and Investor’s Business Daily (IBD). Within the Marketing org, this role sits in the Marketing and Subscription Strategy team, which sets plans and priorities for each of the lines of business and key strategic focus areas.

Role Overview
This role is responsible for operating and assisting in marketing programs that support IBD subscriptions as a whole, helping to directly meet the line of business circulation and revenue goals. This involves helping partners drive new IBD subscriber acquisition and existing IBD subscriber engagement and retention, including cross-selling subscriptions within the larger IBD product portfolio. Devising and guiding programs that improve subscription and retention propensity, so that they are well planned and effective, means leveraging the full marketing org across brand and performance areas, as well as wider Dow Jones departments. The role will partner with brand and performance marketing, paid media, data science and analytics, customer service, product, technology, finance, legal, operations, customer insight, enterprise sales and editorial teams to ensure all areas of the business are delivering towards IBD subscription strategies and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement marketing programs and campaigns that deliver IBD subscription growth, including inserting IBD subscriptions into wider Dow Jones programs
  • Provide detailed updates on performance of live campaigns and explain IBD inclusion in future planned activities and team roadmaps
  • Serve as a day-to-day executional partner for the functional teams who own Dow Jones subscription acquisition, engagement and retention globally
  • Help target unique investor audience segments and use customer intelligence to drive growth. Be a champion for this defined customer cohort across the company
  • Attend regular meetings with marketing and non-marketing teams to ensure all are delivering on agreed plans that drive strategic goals for IBD subscriptions
  • Work with data and insight to give ammunition that supports unique business cases and investment requests for IBD growth
  • Manage tactical initiatives for cross-functional groups to ensure timely, on-budget execution
  • Participate in execution plans with strategic marketing partners advertising sales teams that mutually benefit the full Dow Jones subscriptions ecosystem.
  • Understand the competitive landscape to identify market opportunities and risks.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to membership growth, engagement, and retention.
  • Assist in creating presentations that clearly lay out analysis, findings, and strategic recommendations

What do you need from me?

  • 7+ years of experience in a commercial role within a digital marketing business, experience working in media or publishing sectors is a plus
  • Experience in supporting subscription businesses
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrixed company model
  • Experience working effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and focus on timeline and tangible deliverables
  • Ability to manage workload effectively in a fast paced environment
