Description:
At the Bank of England, we protect everyday life in the UK. We ensure that financial services are safe, inflation is stable, and systems are secure. Our Banking directorate supervises around 600 firms, so they’re crucial to this.
We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our fun and fast-paced team. We are looking for someone who has a strategic mind-set, wants to play an influential role in the directorate and build on their knowledge of ORR. The role involves owning, leading and delivering the strategy for how we supervise the operational resilience of UK Deposit Takers.
The successful candidate will need to be able to use the findings from various pieces of work to feed into our overall assessment of a firm’s operational resilience. You will collaborate closely with and influence stakeholders, work alongside the technical and senior technical specialists in the team and support front-line supervisors. The role includes line management of c 3 direct reports.
As our Operational Resilience rules embed and firms move from implementation to ‘business as usual’, this role is pivotal in shaping our approach.

This is a people management role. You will be responsible for day to day management of the team and for defining roles and responsibilities. You will develop your team through sharing information effectively, coaching and communicating a clear vision to ensure that your staff are productive, engaged and motivated to deliver the area’s aims. This will include setting clear goals and smart stretching objectives that are aligned to those of the team, division and directorate. You will also be responsible for managing all staff-related matters that may arise including performance, absence and sickness.
This role offers a London salary of circa £70,900 - £81,810 and Leeds salary of circa £63,800 - £73,620. In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:
- A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.
