Description:

ABOUT US

Canon is the world’s leading imaging organisation. As a Fortune 500 Company, we actively inspire people with imaginative ideas that enable you to connect, communicate and achieve more than you thought possible.
When you join Canon Australia, you’ll find a rewarding culture that values you. Canon offers a world of opportunities that will accelerate your professional and personal development and help you achieve your goals. You’ll be an integral part of the group’s success.

Responsibilities:

Customers, investors, regulators and the broader community globally have ever-increasing expectations that businesses show that they are acting sustainably. Driven by an increasing awareness and concern over climate change, social justice issues and corporate governance, responsible businesses recognise that sustainable practices can lead to better long-term financial performance and reduced risks.
Canon is looking to build on the established strength and successes of its team in this area to continue to build its reputation for transparent and sustainable practices. The role of Sustainability Manager will look to drive our sustainability agenda to embed sustainability as a core part of our identity. This is a high profile, hands-on and varied role that will draw on your current technical knowledge, relationship-building expertise and leadership skills. You’ll play a central role in developing and delivering practical solutions to managing sustainability along with health and safety risks across multiple sites across the Canon Oceania businesses in Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.

More specifically, this will involve:

  • Ensuring that the Canon Oceania Integrated Management System (IMS) is effectively implemented in alignment with the Canon corporate strategy, and allows Canon Oceania to meet the certification and accreditation expectations of its customers and shareholder.
  • Advancing and evolving our sustainability strategy in consultation with the business, and managing reporting on performance against sustainability goals to senior management, Canon Inc, as well as publicly through mechanisms such as the Sustainability and Modern Slavery Reports.
  • Promoting a strong health and safety culture throughout the business.
  • Ensuring that all products sold by Canon Oceania business units meet the requirements of the applicable Australian and International Standards. Specifically, this will include electrical safety, environmental performance, radiocommunications and other applicable standards.
  • Managing and promoting Canon’s participation in product stewardship programs in Australia and New Zealand. Specifically, this will include current partners such as Cartridges for Planet Ark, TechCollect, Battery Stewardship Council and the Australian Packaging Covenant.
  • Representing Canon at business, industry and community forums to promote our sustainability credentials and programs.
  • Collaborating with industry bodies to represent Canon and advocate for industry interests regarding proposed Federal and State sustainability policies and laws affecting Canon.
  • Working with corporate communications, marketing, and customer-facing teams to ensure that information about the sustainability of our products and services is readily available and accurate.
  • Ensuring that Canon’s global risk management framework is implemented in Canon Oceania companies including management of the Business Continuity Plan and risk registers.
