Opportunity
The Manager, TFIS Operations is a trusted operations, project and administrative management expert who will play a pivotal role in our daily processes as well as our long-term department planning, contributing to critical operating activities and strategy development. Uniquely positioned to interact with all investment and corporate teams, you will provide the operational foundation upon which TFIS delivers its Top of The House value to all of AIMCo and our stakeholders.
Reporting to the Chief Investment Strategist who leads TFIS. You will be a key part of a dynamic team at the heart of total portfolio management and sustainable investing for AIMCo and our clients. You will have a highly visible role in the investment division, and opportunities for further growth across the organization.
This new role will be best suited to an innovative, intellectually curious corporate professional with a keen sense for efficient and effective operations, project and administrative management. The position requires solid analytical thinking, meticulous planning and execution, and an ability to communicate complex processes clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:

Operations and Systems

  • Build and maintain appropriate infrastructure and systems to review and control total portfolio multi-asset class data, with functionality for:
  • Real-time position and risk reporting
  • AUM attribution and forecasting
  • Monitoring and forecasting liquidity needs and constraints
  • Portfolio and asset class performance monitoring
  • Support investment operations of the department including monitoring industry regulations (in collaboration with Legal/Compliance/Risk), investment restrictions, risk limits and guidelines
  • Interface with Client teams on client and pool allocations, transitions, funding and cashflow, and other implementation details
  • Review periodic exposure, valuation and performance reports with respective teams to ensure the reports are fit-for-purpose, accurate, and timely
  • Co-ordinate and represent the department in business transformation and system improvement projects
  • Collaborate with department and organization colleagues to solve complex operating challenges

Budget and Resource Planning

  • Support the Department Head on all planning activities
  • Work with internal groups on budgeting, business planning, and reporting
  • Evaluate insourcing and outsourcing needs, solutions, vendors, and conduct RFP processes
  • Support new business initiatives and manage internal projects
  • Monitor and promote staff welfare and engagement

Administration

  • Work with internal groups (Risk, IT, Finance, Compliance, Audit, etc.) on various projects and tasks
  • Maintain and streamline processes such as external conference engagements, meetings, contact management
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of reports and presentations to a wide audience, including the Board, Executive Committees, Clients, and other stakeholders
  • Work with Investment teams, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Client teams on ongoing administrative requirements

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years of experience in operational or business management in investment firms, accounting firms, banks, asset managers; CIO/CEO office experience would be highly desirable
  • Undergraduate or Masters degree, preferably in finance, accounting, investments or engineering; qualified members of ACA/ACCA/CAIA/CFA or similar would be highly desirable
  • Strong project management capabilities
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, with a high attention to detail and timelines
  • Navigate complex projects with numerous cross-dependencies across investment and operations teams in an agile and fast-paced environment
  • Work independently and take the initiative in each task, yet be a true team player
  • Solve problems efficiently and creatively where necessary
  • Be inclined to systematize and automate processes and adopt and integrate technology successfully
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Write clearly and concise on technical issues
  • Present complex issues succinctly
  • Maintain exceptional professionalism in negotiations with external and internal partners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience utilizing Python, R, will be a plus
