POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Manager, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Accessible Pedagogy provides strategic and operational leadership to advance UDL-informed, accessible teaching practices at George Brown College, working collaboratively across the College and through the Teaching and Learning Exchange (TLX) under the guidance of the Director, Teaching Excellence.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s Degree in Education or another relevant area is required, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Formal Project Management training and work experience are strongly desired.
- Minimum five (5) years in the higher education sector as an educator and/or administrator.
- Teaching experience in higher education is highly desired.
- Experience working in educational environments and strategic planning projects with curriculum development.
- Experience with professional development in higher education is strongly desired.
- Solid understanding and experience in organizational change and change management.
- Extensive knowledge and familiarity with all the following policies, legislations, and frameworks: UDL framework, Ontario Human Rights Code on Accessible Education, Accessible Canada Act, AODA’s Education Standards, Complimentary inclusion frameworks (AOP, Antiracism, Decolonization), and Collective Bargaining Agreement for faculty within the College system.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:
- Effective interpersonal skills: listening, assessing, solving problems, conflict resolution, and understanding change management and organizational change.
- High level of initiative with the ability to integrate diverse opportunities and complex viewpoints.
- Effective communication skills, with skill at organizing and leading meetings, writing reports and proposals with clear written and oral communication.
- Time management, and skills of multi-tasking, organizing, attention to detail, project management training and skills are an asset.
- Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
- Sensitivity to a variety of stakeholder needs and ability to find effective solutions.
- Able to travel between campuses and for conferences or external meetings.
- Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
- Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.

Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements operational framework for UDL and Accessibility Integration throughout the academic division and across the College.
- Plans and oversees UDL- and Accessibility-related Professional Development for faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Develops and sustains positive, ongoing relationships with internal stakeholders including other College divisions, Academic Deans, and faculty, advisory committee members to sustain college-wide engagement with UDL- and Accessibility-related development initiatives.
- Establishes and maintains George Brown’s position as a leader in UDL and Accessibility within the sector.
- Manages student employees and contractors which may include recruitment and selection, mentoring, training and development, recognition, employee and labour relations, and performance and service delivery standards.
- Other related duties as assigned.
