Description:

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Transportation Regional Manager, the Unit Manager will exemplify and consistently demonstrate our core competencies of communication, innovation, change management, relationship building and leadership. The Unit Manager manages a group of unionized employees to deliver on the company’s promises.

  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours, start time 10:00 AM. A reasonable number of additional hours will be required to meet operational objectives.
  • Lead a unionized team/support the ground transportation team and express depots in Winnipeg
  • Accountable for all the Freight deliveries and pickups as well as city bulk daily stops. Also manage CDA/OFD/Containerization scanning of linehaul drivers.
  • Accountable for the outbound freight sort, and departures
  • Customer facing activities such as visits, calls, pick ups, etc.

EDUCATION

Post secondary education and/or 2 years experience in the courier and/or transportation industry preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for hiring, training and managing the performance of unionized employees as per operational standards to meet all operational expectations.
  • Responsible for completing a variety of reports and documentation of the daily operations and must be able to multitask in a fast-paced time sensitive environment.
  • Maintain and exceed operational objectives of performance in customer service, ISO Compliance and Health and Safety Procedures. As well as maintain a safe work environment for all.
  • Create a positive work environment, building employee loyalty and a team atmosphere.
  • Improve operational standards through reviews of employee performance, coaching, counseling and recognition.
  • Other duties as assigned
