[What the role is]
The Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS), a cluster of NParks, safeguards the health and welfare of animals through comprehensive and integrated programmes and works closely with partners in the veterinary and animal-related industries to strengthen capacities and enhance competencies in animal health and welfare. It is the main touch-point on animal and veterinary matters in Singapore and the first responder for all animal-related feedback. It also conducts public education and engagement programmes to foster a society, where pet owners, communities, and animals co-exist in our City in Nature.
The Wildlife Management Division in Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) Cluster manages wildlife in Singapore and engages the community on human-wildlife encounters in our City in Nature.
[What you will be working on]
We are seeking passionate and highly motivated individuals to join our dynamic team of researchers working on projects in urban ecology and wildlife management.
The key work responsibilities include project management, conducting fieldwork in diverse environments, and performing data analysis. In line with NParks’ focus on using science and technology to enhance operations and research, successful candidates will play a key role in the exploring the usage of latest technological advancements (e.g. drones, robotics, IoT (Internet of Things), machine learning & AI) in applied research and operations to manage human-wildlife conflict.
Successful candidates may also have the chance to be involved in ongoing wildlife research projects and engage in public education initiatives and community outreach to promote human-wildlife coexistence.
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant qualification in science or engineering-related disciplines (e.g. Applied Ecology, Environmental Sciences, AI / Robotics Engineering and other
- related disciplines)
- Possess a keen interest in applying the use of technology for wildlife management operations and research. Familiarity and experience in handling drones, robotics, and AI will be an advantage
- An organized, creative, and resourceful team player who can work independently
- Possess good writing, interpersonal and communication skills
- Willing to work on weekends and after office hours
- Enjoys working in an outdoor environment and preferably possessing a Class 3 driving license
