POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Workplace and Platforms Technologies at George Brown College is responsible for overseeing the management, integration, and optimization of various IT systems, including IDM, LMS, desktop engineering, and Azure platforms. The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, system integration, project and vendor management, and ensuring security and compliance. The manager ensures that IT solutions align with the college’s strategic goals, enhances productivity, and supports both academic and administrative operations.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Four-year degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Computer Sciences, IT or related field.
  • Certifications: ITIL, Microsoft, and/or other relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Minimum nine (9) years’ related experience.
  • Experience in the educational sector and expertise in IDM systems, LMS, desktop engineering for Mac and PC, Microsoft 365, Azure services, automation technologies, and Zoom is preferred.

Developing IT Strategies: Formulate and implement long-term IT strategies that align with the college’s objectives and enhance its technological capabilities.

  • Technology Roadmap: Create a technology roadmap that outlines the planned upgrades and integrations for the next few years.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously evaluate and optimize the performance of existing systems to ensure they meet the college’s needs.
  • Team Building: Recruit, train, and develop a team of IT professionals to support the college’s network and data center operations.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Professional Development: Offer opportunities for continuous learning and career growth through workshops, certifications, and training programs.
  • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration of various IT systems, including identity management (IDM), learning management systems (LMS), desktop engineering, and cloud platforms like Azure.
  • Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize system performance to ensure high availability, efficiency, and user satisfaction.
  • Project Planning: Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, resources, budgets, and risk assessments.
  • Project Execution: Oversee the execution of IT projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required quality standards.
  • Other related duties as assigned
