POSITION OVERVIEW

The Fund for Black entrepreneurs is a new $100M initiative designed to support and grow the number of black entrepreneurs led companies in Canada. This Fund will invest alongside ecosystem partners and others into black entrepreneurs led companies that are seeking equity capital and are growing sustainable businesses, creating jobs and actively contributing to the growth of the Black community and Canadian economy. The Fund will include a combination of direct investments in companies and indirect investments in funds.
The Managing Director is responsible for the overall leadership of the Fund. This individual has a passion for supporting the growth of entrepreneurs, is innovative and a strong leader. Having an entrepreneurial or investment background, the successful candidate is a natural collaborator and dedicated to work with entrepreneurs using a variety of sustainable investment instruments that have a lasting impact.
With an understanding of, or expertise in investments, finance or capital markets, the Managing Director will oversee the design of investment vehicles that generate returns while bringing much needed equity capital to this under-represented segment of the market. The Managing Director will represent BDC in the ecosystem as part of the Impact Platform and be responsible for the execution of the mandate, working with key partners and stakeholders in the marketplace and with the black community in Canada.
