Gathers, integrates and translates information to promote the effective operation of the business/function. Leads analysis, decision/impact assessment, and recommendations to drive multi-year planning, prioritization and execution of strategies and initiatives across the function that will promote effective operations. Develops and implements learning strategies that enable the organization to build an effective workforce of the future, identifying and closing skill gaps internally and working with HR and other partners to source external talent where appropriate. Acts as the central point of contact for strategic and priority initiatives, leading a team of project management, strategy and business management, audit, risk and compliance, learning and external partnerships, communications management and change management professionals to ensure the integration, optimization, and successful execution and sustainment of investment spend and the achievement of set objectives. Provides strategic communication advice to the leadership team, to support clear understanding of strategies and priorities

  • Leads the execution/operationalization of the enhanced business/function operating model, multi-year planning and financial management, understanding business requirements to proactively deliver.
  • Works with appropriate leadership and business partner teams to integrate, interpret and translate information and provide analysis, planning and forecasting to identify opportunities and develop recommendations.
  • Provides thought leadership and guidance on ongoing strategic decisions to optimize results, developing, planning, and monitoring strategies for the highest priority opportunities to drive financial and customer performance
  • Provides ongoing monitoring of results to the leadership team to ensure objectives are being met, recommending actions as required to remain on track.
  • Supports the development of business/resource/investment plans, working with the leadership team to ensure plans support the achievement of objectives and strategy.
  • Develops and executes communications strategies that improve employees’ and key stakeholders’ understanding of the strategic direction, reinforces the vision-strategy-brand-values link, and imparts the expected behaviours and actions necessary to drive business performance.
  • Develops strategies to deliver and sustain learning effectively to improve overall capability, effectiveness and operational proficiency, optimizing delivery by both location and content reusability.
  • Ensures risk taking falls within the risk appetite and internal controls are in place and functioning effectively to support management decision-making that protects assets and adheres to applicable corporate policies, operating directives, laws and regulations. In addition, leads all audit engagements and compliance activities.
  • Manages multi-million dollar partnerships and sponsorships in the AI community including and not limited to Vector Institute, Creative Destruction Labs.
  • Ensures the effective planning and control of unit operating expenses in accordance with business forecasts to ensure spending is maintained within budget
  • Identifies the impact of proposed process/program/technology changes on current processes, to optimize efficiency and minimize disruption
  • Within the mandate of this role, promotes and supports the Bank’s risk culture including ensuring employees understand their accountabilities for risk-taking activities, promoting an environment of open communication and effective challenge, and establishing the “tone from the top” through leading by example
  • Provides strategic, value-added advice to business/function Head and their leadership team, investigating, recommending and/or implementing changes to systems, procedures, products and/or people to directly impact productivity and effectiveness
  • Develops and maintains an understanding of industry and competitive dynamics, major competitive moves and best practices to assess and report on their impact within the context of related information security strategies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post secondary education
  • 10+ years experience in financial services, execution/operationalization of the enhanced business/function operating model, multi-year planning and financial management, understanding business requirements to proactively deliver the office of business enablement/management
  • Experience developing and implementing high level strategy
  • Technical leader viewed as a thought leader for innovation.
