Description:

Managing Director, HR and Engagement

  • Location: Pacekids’ North (Head Office)
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and direction in the creation, implementation and ongoing performance management of a fully integrated human resources team
  • Facilitate the development of an organization strategy, in collaboration with the Executive Director and members of the senior management team that establishes and supports alignment with the strategic vision and mission of Pacekids
  • Contribute as a member of the leadership team, collaborating with colleagues, board of directors and staff to ensure achievement of strategic initiatives
  • Lead and develop the human resources strategy, ensuring alignment with the human resources priorities outlined in the organization strategic plan
  • In collaboration with the HR team and other internal parties, develop an annual HR plan that focuses on employee engagement and retention
  • Provide HR leadership, advice, and guidance to staff on various HR matters
  • Determine workforce needs and participate in recruitment and other human resource areas as required
  • Develop strategies for building and enhancing overall employee engagement
  • Develop and implement a sustainable compensation and benefits program
  • Responsible for overall health and safety program, ensuring compliance with legislative and annual reporting requirements
  • Create and maintain organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensure they are communicated and understood by team members

What You Bring

Core competencies and qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HR Generalist; 3-5 years in a leadership role
  • Post-secondary education in human resources, or combination of education and equivalent relevant experience, in a program related to human resources
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources
  • Strong understanding of Alberta Employment Standards and human rights
  • Proven leadership ability and experience in recruiting, motivating, and supporting staff
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with a track record of meeting commitments and deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in the English language
  • Possess good listening skills, sound judgement, and decision-making capabilities
  • Strong focus on customer service – both internally and externally
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships staff and external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or priorities simultaneously
  • High level of effective project management skills, supervisory skills, leadership skills, facilitation skills, personal initiative, and teamwork
  • Clearance from a Criminal Record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, current within the last six months; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
  • Clearance from a Child Intervention Record Check, current within the last year; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
