JOB DESCRIPTION

As a member of the Fixed Income team, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing the strategy for Real Estate Finance, a key sector for Credit assets. Working collaboratively with colleagues and senior team members, the Managing Director, Real Estate Finance, will be tasked with inspiring and motivating a team of around 50 investment professionals to achieve various targets on growth, risk/return optimization and value creation. The position also requires fostering collaboration while taking part in various leadership and portfolio management committees.
The Real Estate Finance strategy encompasses a broad array of commercial real estate investment opportunities, including project development, stabilization projects and stabilized assets across North America, Europe and Australia.
We are seeking a strategic ally possessing a systemic cross-functional vision of the organization and the ability to rally the team in pursuit of collective success.

What you will do

  • Develop an investment strategy reflecting the changing real estate market and the construction of the portfolio in line with the goals of institutional investors like CDPQ.
  • Oversee transaction-related activities for the entire Real Estate Finance mandate while ensuring that transactions are coordinated and the portfolio is properly constructed and actively managed.
  • Take on a leadership role on various committees, rigorously monitor investments and demonstrate a clear grasp of potential issues.
  • Ensure that the team is aligned with their Risk Management colleagues and other internal stakeholders for management of potential and existing portfolio investments.
  • Ensure that the team’s business plans are properly executed in all CDPQ offices by fostering the development and use of best practices within investment sectors (consistent investment documents, selection criteria, etc.).
  • Plan and manage HR needs, oversee staff development and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Foster CDPQ’s culture of debating ideas to mobilize team members to become partners of reference for collaboration and teamwork.
