We are seeking a visionary and dynamic Managing Director for Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) to lead our regional operations and drive significant growth across diverse educational markets.

ABOUT YOU:

We are seeking an experienced executive leader with a passion for education and for Africa, with a proven track record of driving business growth and transformation in complex environments, preferably across multiple education sectors. The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a strategic leader with the ability to provide vision for the business in the region.
  • Demonstrate executive presence, gravitas, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with senior stakeholders, showcasing the capabilities required for successful leadership.
  • Contribute strong business acumen with extensive experience in strategic financial planning and management, and a track record of leveraging external networks and stakeholders to develop existing and new business.
  • Lead with confidence and flexibility, balancing short-term and long-term goals, while being a high-performing role model who engages personally and solves complex problems quickly, mitigating risks.
  • Have a deep understanding of educational policy, pedagogy, curriculum reform, and trends in Sub Saharan Africa.
  • Promote inclusivity to drive diverse thinking and better decision-making, enabling our people to feel engaged and empowered.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Group Managing Director - International Education, the Managing Director Sub Saharan Africa (SSA) will lead Cambridge University Press & Assessment in SSA.
The SSA business has a diverse portfolio spanning across International Assessment and Qualifications, Ministry and Education Reform Partnerships, and publishing aimed at local curricula.
This role aims to leverage joint capabilities and drive growth in this region by integrating the three businesses under one leadership team. We are therefore seeking a dynamic, innovative, and strong leader to build on our current foundation and explore new business streams, channels, and markets.

  • Manage the transition to a unified organisation in the region.
  • Build high-performing teams to execute a single SSA strategy.
  • Drive strategic plans for Cambridge’s International Education growth in SSA.
