We have an exciting opportunity to join our Legal team in Sydney and are currently looking for a Managing Legal Counsel to join the team.
As a Managing Legal Counsel at VGW, you will lead and manage legal affairs within the company, providing strategic legal guidance, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and managing legal risks.
Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Manage and oversee disputes, arbitration and litigation matters, including coordinating with external counsel and developing litigation strategies.
- Provide oversight and advice relating to responses to complaints and information requests, and customer or contractual disputes.
- Provide general commercial advice, advising on commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and engaging with regulators as necessary, advising on terms and conditions, terms of use, and internal policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company and proactively advise management on potential legal risks and implications.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:
- 10+ years post qualification experience with relevant experience at a top-tier law firm and/or strong relevant in-house experience, preferably with strong technical experience in commercial litigation and strong regulatory expertise.
- Admitted as a lawyer to practice in Australia.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- High degree of commercial acumen to understand the business’ key drivers.
- Demonstrated adherence to a high standard of professional principles to ensure honesty, integrity, and ethical decision-making in all situations.
