POSITION SUMMARY

CIMCO Refrigeration is looking for a Manual Lathe Machinist to work within our Manufacturing Division. We are a high mix / low volume custom job shop that fabricates a wide range of products including ASME Code pressure vessels, skid mounted pre-piped packaged equipment assemblies, and electrical control panels. You will be responsible for operating a Manual Lathe, Manual Drill Presses, Manual End Mill, and an automated CNC Plasma Cutter.

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience as a machinist
  • Strong knowledge of machining parameters and limits
  • Knowledge of tooling and latest technology
  • Comfortable operating computers and running software
  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work alone or in a collaborative team environment and accept responsibility for work performed
  • Strong time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Able to deal with conflicts and meet deadlines
  • This position requires that you join a Union
  • A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word software
  • The ideal candidate will be a hands-on mechanically inclined individual able to use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems
  • Able to read and understand technical documents
  • A candidate with knowledge of Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing principles and processes will be favored

Responsibilities:

  • Produce a wide variety of machined parts manually in accordance with engineering drawings while maintaining quality and safety standards
  • Plans work day by reviewing orders, published schedules, drawings, materials, specifications, reference planes, locations of surfaces, dimensions and tolerances
  • Ensure correct tooling is available well in advance of starting any job
  • Operating manual lathe by installing and adjusting three and four jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops
  • Operating manual drill presses, end mill
  • Programming, setting up and operating computerized numerical controlled (CNC) Plasma Cutter
  • Verifying product correctness using manual measurement devices such as calipers, verniers, gauges
  • Maintain existing equipment (preventative maintenance) as per manufacturer’s recommendations and supplies
  • Contact equipment and tooling suppliers directly as required
  • Maintains records
  • Confirm promised delivery dates back to internal customers promptly after receipt of order
  • Update and monitor progress within the machine shop and communicate to other departments
  • Attend twice-weekly Contact Meetings with personnel representing the following groups: shop floor, engineering, quality control, and purchasing
  • Update production schedules as they pertain to machine shop
  • Maintain stock of inventory parts
  • Repair shop mechanical equipment as needed
  • Work in other departments as required based upon work load
