Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Technology and Quality, the Manufacturing Engineering specialist Supervisor, will have a major role in developing and leading best practices in the Brantford manufacturing facility as we scale our current capacity and look for new opportunities in the market. You will have a strong team presence working closely and collaborating with Maintenance, Quality, Production and Materials. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be a requirement as you will be expected to lead projects with your team of manufacturing engineering specialists and have the ability to train on processes and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-year Degree/diploma in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial
- Minimum 5 years in manufacturing in a related field
- CAD experience (Inventor, AutoCAD)
- Process design and documentation, including development and publication of Standard Operating Procedures
- Ability to apply fundamental engineering principles to identify and drive non-standard solutions to solve manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to work in rapidly changing environment with minimal guidance, self-starter, yet team player.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with internal groups and outside vendors.
- Proven project management experience.
- Experience designing automated manufacturing equipment is advantageous
- Experience leading large scale industrial projects
- Experience with quality systems and processes (implementation of corrective and preventative actions)
- Working knowledge of OHSA and Employment Standards Act
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral, written communication skills and a strong commitment to health and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Manage manufacturing engineering future design/launch projects– capital project development, vendor selection, front-end engineering design, design reviews, fabrication, acceptance testing, construction, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations.
- Establishes or adjusts work procedures and placement of manpower to meet company’s production objectives.
- Provide leadership, where employees are engaged contributors to continually improve performance and results and achieve daily productivity targets.
- Coach, train and provide feedback to improve team member performance
- Manage production personnel, resolving concerns, reviewing performance, and maintaining morale.
- Oversee training and development of employees
- Responsible for the resolution of all employee issues within the department with the involvement of the next level of management and human resources as required.
- Responsible for issuing employee discipline to correct poor performance/behaviors.
- Responsible for enforcing and abiding by all company policies
- Participate in departmental recruitment and onboarding process
- Continuous improvement and enhancement to production lines for optimized performance.
- Help reduce machine down time by implementing maintenance and preventative maintenance (delegate the actual repairs/maintenance to the maintenance dept.
- Develop manufacturing strategies for new projects by performing detailed feasibility, project timing and cost estimate studies.
- Provide technical support for the assessment of different manufacturing scenarios.
- Ensure manufacturing paint lines meet uptime, availability and reliability metrics – OEE, cycle time, quality and manufacturing lead times.
- Develop and deliver training to operations and maintenance technicians to ensure a seamless handover of new equipment.
- Ensure that all equipment, processes, and procedures comply with applicable standards, company policy and all Health and Safety Laws, Acts, Regulations and Codes
- Participate in daily production meetings.
