ABOUT THE ROLE
PVLabs is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Engineer with both breadth and depth in Design for Manufacturability with complex mechatronics systems. Overall, this role will be responsible for developing manufacturing/assembly processes and procedures and support design transfer, process validation and change control, all while managing the complexity of product development within the highly regulated Controlled Goods and Defence/Military technology ecosystem. The Manufacturing Engineer will use their leadership, collaboration skills and DFM expertise to ensure effective transfer of products from our Engineering Labs to our Operations, Test & Integration and Production Labs
This is not a typical, stay-in-your-lane Manufacturing Engineer role. Instead, its an advanced, multi-disciplinary role that is essential to all aspects of improving designs for manufacturability and test, developing process flows, creating build and test requirements plus appropriate lead-time analysis for preliminary manufacturing & assembly procedures. Its where concept turns into reality, where getting it right is a whole-team effort, and where your expertise matters.
While our organization quickly evolving and growing the Manufacturing Engineer role at PVLabs will start with a clean slate, allowing the successful candidate to apply their own unique signature to how to build a better Manufacturing Engineering function that will solve complex problems with significant direct business impact.
ABOUT THE RESPONSIBILITIES (IMMEDIATE, MID-TERM, LONG-TERM)
The effectiveness of this role and its focus will tie to our current-state and our future-state as our next-generation product designs mature and we move forward towards product build schedules that are rapidly approaching.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obviously, some typical Manufacturing Engineering fundamentals will anchor the roles responsibilities, including:
- Responsible for the selection, installation, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), test method validation, and sustaining support of tooling and equipment utilized in Manufacturing.
- Provide schedule and budgetary input for current and future programs.
- Support new product manufacturability by conducting research, feasibility testing, and process validation.
- Support engineering prototype builds within the product development process.
- Conduct time studies to determine accurate labour estimates for transferred products.
- Support the supply chain team in selecting and qualifying new suppliers. Work closely with suppliers, purchasing, and development to ensure design requirements are adequately defined and met.
- Conduct training and provide guidance and supervision for Production Technicians in assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing electromechanical equipment.
- Implement and promote lean manufacturing principles and creative problem-solving techniques.
- Generate and implement Nonconformance reports and Engineering Change Requests.
