Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or a related field.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- You have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, quality systems, optimization, lean principles, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis.
- You are proficient in CAD software (Creo, Solidworks or similar) and have familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools.
- You have strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
BOSUN SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- You have knowledge of coating and web handling processes.
- You have experience using practices such as Lean Six Sigma, D/P FMEA, Design of Experiments, Value Stream Mapping, SPC (including Mini-Tab), Kaizen, and/or 5S.
Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
As a Manufacturing Engineer focused on coating, you will ensure efficient and effective production processes within our manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing systems and procedures to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. You will collaborate closely with our Product Design Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to bring components from initial design through prototype development into full-scale production.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE:
- You’ll develop and optimize manufacturing processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions as you go along.
- You’ll lead validation activities for new and existing manufacturing processes and equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- You’ll drive a culture of continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing, statistical process control (Six Sigma), and other methodologies, to identify and eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- You’ll collaborate with production and planning teams to develop production schedules, capacity analysis, and resource allocation plans in order to ensure the optimal utilization of equipment, materials, and labor.
- You’ll investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop corrective and preventive actions to address quality or process problems.
- You’ll develop and maintain comprehensive work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation to ensure consistency and compliance with quality standards.
