JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
GE Aerospace Engine Services is a leading provider of aviation engine repair and maintenance services for commercial and military customers.
The Manufacturing Engineer role supports the Military Engines Overhaul Business operations on site at Strother Field Kansas. This role is responsible for improving processes that support engine overhauls of T700, CT7, YT706, F110, and F118 engine models.
The manufacturing engineer must be capable of collaborating with cross-functional team members to address issues that affect compliance, safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Engineering associated with the manufacturing process. Impacts departmental operations and responsible for planning/execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 5 years of Aviation industry experience in engineering or quality roles
- Knowledge of inspection and maintenance methods related to aerospace engine repairs
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities:
- Determine safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method possible
- Assist leaders, mechanics, and technicians in resolving manufacturing process issues. Collaborate to identify root cause and develop comprehensive corrective actions.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research trials; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machining, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; solicit feedback and observations from operators.
- Work cross functionally with quality and design engineers to ensure that processes achieve performance metrics
- Train and empower production employees in manufacturing techniques required to improve process yield
- Support and meet production schedules, driving productivity, and quality initiatives within budget plan
- Utilize lean principles to improve manufacturing efficiency, optimize material flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Investigate and apply modern technology
- Promote and build a positive working relationship with hourly team members
- Define and control production process including tooling and equipment. Validate design specifications and shop floor application of new product, tools, or equipment.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Possesses technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
