JOB ADVERT SUMMARY

In support of IMSAf’s ongoing efforts to enhance organisational performance and provide employee development opportunities, the company is pleased to invite applications for Manufacturing Engineer in the Technical Operations Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Facilities Planning and or Assembly Tool Planning environment
  • At Least 5 years’ Project Management experience within a Manufacturing Engineering Environment
  • Experience in Project Costing, Cost Estimation and Expenditure Forecasting
  • Experience in Contract Management
  • Experience in Process Reviews and Design reviews for new manufacturing cells
  • Experience in compiling Statement of Requirements (SOR) for new manufacturing cells
  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Trade certificate
  • Operational knowledge of production process and quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of Safety Systems.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Management System (ISO 9001) and Environmental Management System (ISO14001)
  • Knowledge on Launch Process and execution thereof.
  • Sound knowledge of Vehicle Manufacturing Processes, Systems and Controls (torque, sealing, welding, dimensional data interpretation)
  • Computer Literacy, knowledge and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, SAP and Windows
  • Ability to interpret technical information, drawings, and specifications and application thereof

Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Mitigate risks with the introduction of plant changes (process and equipment)
  • Manage contractors to ensure safe work practices for contractors in line with IMSAf’s contractor management procedure.
  • Ensure compliance with IMSAf’s Management of Changes Procedure to ensure hazards and Risks are identified and eliminated.
  • Responsible for planning and executing Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA’s) to ensure Hazards and Risks are identified, evaluated and addressed on new processes and equipment prior to manufacturing and installation.
  • Ensure equipment design for health and safety practices are adhered to for all newly introduced facilities, tooling and equipment within the Manufacturing Engineering responsible scope of supply.
  • Manufacturing Process Design and Development to Support Product Changes
  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting input from Maintenance Technicians, IE’s, Process Engineers and Manufacturing Leadership
  • Development and review of PFMEA’s from L1 to L4, identify the RPL1’s and support tooling/design initiatives to mitigate the risks identified.
  • Responsible for strategic planning of processes that will result in sustainable manufacturing of future product.
  • Feasibility studies and Layout development for new or changed process and product
  • Gather information on process or product changes and solicit input from various parties incl. source plant, product engineering, programme management and plant engineering.
  • Responsible for cost estimation of selected proposals.
  • Lead feasibility studies to support decision making on best proposals considered.
  • Project Management: Plan and manage projects to agreed program milestones
  • Develops project objectives by reviewing project proposals and plans; conferring with management.
  • Determines project responsibilities, specifications and schedule.
  • Controls project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and plan and schedule changes; recommending actions.
  • Cost: Project Costing and Achieve Cost Targets
  • Compile Project budget by project costing, studying trends, soliciting budget inputs from contractors.
  • Controls project costs by initiating and requesting expenditures; conducting forecasting and administering and managing contractor contracts.
  • Conduct cost saving initiatives within the team to eliminate waste. Identify high cost items and evaluating alternative to reduce capital and structural cost expenditure
  • Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Identify crucial areas for process improvements and assimilate action teams to implement strategic process and equipment changes to drive sustainable improvements
  • Maintaining productivity metrics and project managing productivity action items identified in support of agreed CIP activities.
  • Works with the Maintenance team, Plant Engineering, contractors and international process experts to promote common systems, best practices, continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Study and select acceptable environmental solutions, e.g. low energy solution, for future projects. Stay abreast of technology trends regarding sound and effective industry environmental practices. Set and implement strategic direction for use of energy efficient machinery and equipment
