QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

  • Typically requires University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or granted refugee or asylee status) as defined here: https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
  • Must have relevant experience leading a Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing process
  • Must have relevant experience problem solving with RCCA and PFMEA

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER

  • Experience with SAP or similar type ERP system to include BOM/Router maintenance
  • 6 plus years of manufacturing engineering experience
  • Experience implementing operator standard work
  • Experience implementing control plans

Collins Aerospace currently has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer Manager on-site in Colorado Springs, CO.
Come work at a purpose-built Ejection Seating Assembly facility (~200 Employees). We have transitioned to a new space that was designed specifically for our assembly line. We have huge growth out in front of us and need your help to ensure our ejection seats meet customer timelines and quality standards.
Position will work primarily onsite based out of Colorado Springs, CO. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Working Manager with some Manufacturing Engineering assignments and responsibility
  • Manage team of six to ten manufacturing and process engineers
  • Coordinate and collaborate with senior management and staff
  • Provide mentorship and career development to engineers
  • Drive implementation of operator based standard work
  • Support the documentation control process
  • Assignment of programs and special project tasks to engineers
  • Drive standard work and process alignment for engineering responsibilities
  • Drive product quality improvements by performing RCCA with Level two mistake proof implementation for all quality non-conformance (QNs)
  • Process control levering Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and ProCert
  • Co-lead Quality risk mitigation with PFMEA assessment and activities
  • Co-lead EH&S risk mitigation via ergonomic studies, process improvements and lift plans
  • Develop and maintain proper documentation and procedures; asset management; fixturing, lift assist and tooling PMs
  • Determine and plan the sequence of operations and documents manufacturing standard work and routing.
  • Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
  • Assure processes, including equipment, fixture design, routings, programming, tooling, and standard work support our production lines and meet all applicable drawing requirements.
  • Continuously improve quality and productivity using the CORE Operating System
  • Provide technical support for serving as liaison between Value Streams, Quality Assurance, EH&S and Design Engineering
  • Audits manufacturability of existing products, and recommends modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
  • Involved with Line Balancing (Time studies, Operator Load Cell, Process Flow and others) and Lean Manufacturing (VSM, Kaizen, Kanban, One Piece Flow, Material presentation, Visual Management) projects.
  • Conducts analysis of manufacturing processes and equipment to diagnose failures.
  • Leads root cause analysis for product quality concerns.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of Industrial Engineering problems.
  • Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety or ergonomic concerns.
  • Research new processes, methods, and equipment and make recommendations to achieve continuous improvement in assigned areas of the factory.
  • Design, develop, and improve station loading/line balancing.
  • Voice of Manufacturing/Manufacturability in Design Reviews
  • Supporting manufacturing line daily with process troubleshooting, incorporation of engineering changes, etc.
  • Dispositioning non-conforming material with root cause and corrective action analysis as required
  • May support Original Equipment, Aftermarket Support items or (MRO) Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul of fielded product.
