Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
At Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., we are offering an exceptional opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer II to join our world-class Engineering team in Horsham. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting production, including serialization & commercial equipment, and other areas of the business, such as the Warehouse, while working to minimize downtime. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining flawless operations, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Engineering Practice (GEP) standards. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to represent engineering in Global Packaging Engineering forums, ensuring that our processes and equipment meet the highest standards.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- NVQ level 3, HND or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 17th edition or 18th edition wiring regulations.
- Experience in serialization & commercial equipment.
- Diagnostics skills on Siemens PLC/HMI would be preferred.
- Proven ability to analyze sophisticated technical issues and propose practical solutions.
- Detailed knowledge and application of Engineering Standards.
- Strong IT and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and sell ideas.
- Knowledge and experience of using and implementing CI tools such as 5S and Kaizen.

Responsibilities:
- Be a valuable resource for the designated field, representing the company on a global scale.
- Enhance packaging, serialization, commercial equipment, and packaging operations through the continuous improvement of current process metrics and performance.
- Support audits, production, and other areas of the business with equipment breakdowns and overtime.
- Manage contractors and equipment suppliers during site visits for installation, repair, service, and calibration.
- Assist in the installation, development, improvement, and associated validation work of new equipment.
- Collaborate with internal customers and machine suppliers to resolve machine problems and initiate supplier visits if necessary.
- Ensure health and safety procedures are strictly followed, including near-miss accidents and risk assessments.
- Perform light assembly and machine shop work, as well as electrical fault finding, PLC interrogation, and pneumatics fault finding.
