Your two-year Graduate Development Programme will be tailored to ensure you gain a broad understanding of your chosen field and build the foundations of a successful career. You will have the opportunity to work with other facilities across our global organisation and you will be directly involved, and at the heart of our business, participating on strategic projects.
Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Lead manufacturing improvement projects on our Electric and Combustion powered vehicles, driving Safety, Quality, Velocity & Cost using 6 Sigma Methodologies.
- Work with the latest Manufacturing Engineering Technologies to introduce our New Products, evaluating design for assembly & automation feasibility, generating manufacturing processes and documentation, allowing our latest machines to be produced to our world class manufacturing standards.
- Utilise CAD software to design new equipment, complete virtual builds and develop facility layouts in line with Caterpillars Production System.
- Implement new equipment/tooling to production, inc. Design, budgeting, evaluation, procurement, implementation, training and sign off.
- Create and review associated process risk documentation; PFMEA, Control Plans and SFMEA’s to drive safety improvements in new and current processes.
- Work with Additive Manufacturing, Robotics & Automation (assembly and inspection), AI, Digital Twins, Measurement Analysis & Machine Validation Equipment.
- Complete root cause analysis for quality improvement opportunities and implement robust process containment measures.
- Lead and implement sustainability projects within the manufacturing process, ensuring alignment with Caterpillar’s commitment to environmental responsibility
- Adhere to the company’s Health and Safety policy and safe working practices.

Applicants will be on target to achieve a minimum of 2:2 honours degree level in one of the following disciplines:
- Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Mechatronic Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
Other STEM areas that may be relevant to the position will also be considered e.g., Maths and Sciences.

Stage one – Video Interview: If selected, you will be invited to complete a user-friendly video interview which will then be reviewed by the Hiring Team. At this stage, if you are successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre which we anticipate will be held on either Tuesday 28 th January, Wednesday 29 th January or Thursday 6 th February onsite at our Desford facility so please try to keep those dates free. We would also recommend that you check your spam emails and your Workday account for updates.
Stage two - Assessment Centre: The Assessment Centre Day will look at a range of behaviours such as teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and as relaxed as possible.
Stage three – Offer: After the Assessment Centre, the Caterpillar team will review the feedback and extend offers to our preferred candidates, we aim to do this as quickly as possible. Graduates will start on 8th September 2025. We look forward to receiving your application to join Caterpillar!
