MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING INTERN - 6-MONTH CONTRACT WITH POSSIBILITY FOR EXTENSION.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering intern to join our team! This internship offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with various departments to coordinate and support manufacturing related projects and be responsible for documenting new product development time studies, work instructions, and process sheets while also providing feedback on design concerns identified during project work. Additionally, the Manufacturing Engineerinng Intern is responsible to create or update part routes and provide continuous support during the assembly phase of equipment builds.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Understanding of 3D CAD design, preferably experience with Solidworks
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes or mechanical aptitude
  • University degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Prior manufacturing engineering experience in large industrial assembly and/or fabrication is an asset
  • Understanding of Bill of Materials and MRP systems/ ECN / NCR
  • Experienced with Microsoft office software and ERP systems
  • Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to effectively prepare and deliver technical reports and presentations with guidance from Supervisor
  • Ability to function in a team environment, effectively communicating across various levels of the organization
  • Ability to travel between manufacturing locations (3km distance)
  • Ability to work morning or afternoons shifts during prototyping builds.

Responsibilities:

  • Use Manufacturing Engineering standard time methods to capture the time needs to perform tasks in fabrication, electrical and mechanical sub-assembly and assembly departments.
  • As part of Kaizen events, analyze value adding and non-value adding activities to support continuous improvement of operations and cost savings.
  • Working with operations and engineering perform time studies on new product development prototype initiatives to establish proper routes for loading into SAP and allocating material.
  • Create and update standard work instructions and process sheets for fabrication, electrical and mechanical tasks by observing tasks being carried out and documenting and taking photos as necessary.
  • Review incoming Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as needed for potential process sheet updates.
  • Report any potential manufacturing and assembly fitment issues to design engineering, fill out Engineering Work Requests (EWR) as needed.
