We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team and drive operational excellence at our Livermore, CA facility. This role reports directly to the Director of Operations and is responsible for optimizing processes, implementing Lean Six Sigma methodologies, and ensuring world-class manufacturing performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers to support production, process improvements, and new product introduction (NPI).
- Develop and implement engineering best practices, ensuring alignment with company goals and industry standards.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Process Optimization & Lean Manufacturing
- Identify and execute continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive Lean Six Sigma and 5S efforts throughout the facility to eliminate waste and improve productivity.
- Standardize and optimize manufacturing processes for repeatability and scalability.
- Develop and implement automation strategies to improve throughput and reduce manual labor.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Operational Excellence
- Work closely with the Director of Operations to develop and execute strategic initiatives for the facility.
- Partner with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless workflow and on-time delivery.
- Support new product development by collaborating with design and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all engineering and manufacturing processes comply with ISO, AS9100, and other industry standards.
- Promote a safe work environment by enforcing proper procedures and training employees on best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred), and 5S implementation.
- Experience in defense, space, or medical manufacturing is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in CAD, ERP/MRP systems, and manufacturing process automation.
- Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
- Proven track record of successful project management.
