Description:
SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager for Signworks reports directly to the Director of Signworks Manufacturing. This position’s primary focus is technical leadership of direct reports, process development and planning, machine evaluation and application, training/teaching, decision making, communication, and project management. This individual must be a stable positive role model for direct reports and make themselves available over a wide range of hours to a wide range of business concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Prior experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
- Prior experience as a manager/supervisor of engineers of technicians.
- Proficient in reading/typing in English.
- Extensive experience with a wide variety of manufacturing methods, project management methods, machine design, leadership, organization skills, direct management, and vendor/contractor development is fundamental. This includes evaluating CNC metal fabrication/machining equipment, welding, coatings, electrical wiring, or fixture and gage design.
- Experience presenting information to a wide range of audiences.
- Proven experience with computers, smartphones/tablets, AutoDesk software, and Microsoft software.
EDUCATION AND LICENSING
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology required.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the MFE team to document manufacturing capabilities and efficient production methods.
- Develop new manufacturing processes by assisting direct reports with writing and analyzing capital expenditure requests, re-engineering equipment, and guiding designs on tooling, fixtures, and material handling equipment.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve manufacturing processes utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, machines, tooling, and personnel.
- Lead discussions on product improvements and facilitate Engineering Change Requests.
- Advise all affected departments regarding process effects resulting from product changes and vice versa.
- Manage projects individually and by leading the MFE team as necessary. Includes conducting meetings and coordinating with other employees, suppliers, and outside contractors.
- Communicate with and develop vendors on technical specifications and quality standards.
- Assist Manufacturing Technicians in troubleshooting and returning equipment to the correct working order.
- Regularly attend training on subjects important to Watchfire and stay informed of industry practices and standards.
- Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch in and around tightly configured equipment. Occasionally lift and carry 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 75 pounds.
- Provide onsite supervision of direct reports, contractors, in-direct reports, and production personnel performing processes involving equipment, tools, and Watchfire property.
- Lead actions, with assistance from HR and direct supervision, if any disciplinary steps are taken with direct reports.
- Provide leadership and stability to direct reports during change and implementation of new duties by planning training steps and preparing the team.
