Job Description:
Leer, Inc. is a growing, employee-owned company looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Team! This position will be responsible for company-wide manufacturing process improvements which include plant and process troubleshooting, process design, cost Improvements, tooling/fixture design, and capital equipment justification, all of which will drive innovation, customer satisfaction, and reduced costs. Leer’s continuous improvement/lean culture focuses on SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost) principles.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Participate and lead cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods.
  • Research, identify, and propose new capital equipment and/or manufacturing processes that enhance productivity, taking into consideration the use of the latest technology and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering and make recommendations regarding the design and assembly of new and existing products to ensure optimum ‘design for manufacture’.
  • Be aware of and investigate environmental and safety hazards and work as part of a team to implement corrective action.
  • Lead assigned facilities and capital improvement projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years process improvement related experience.
  • A working knowledge of common manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, stampings, aluminum and steel weldments, precision machined components, etc.
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects under time restrictions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated engineering project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written forms with suppliers, customers, and employees within the organization.
  • Proficiency with 2D and/or 3D CAD. AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Available to travel, including internationally up to 10%.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience and knowledge.
  • Must be results driven and self-motivated with a desire to achieve.
