POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, improving, and implementing production processes that increase workplace safety and quality optimize efficiency, and reduce waste.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Support day-to-day performance improvement at the facility (speed increase, stop reduction, scrap reduction, and labor efficiency improvement)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, quality, and maintenance, to identify and resolve issues that may impact production efficiency or quality and ensure successful implementation of new processes and equipment.
  • Strong on-the-floor presence (Gemba) to conduct process audits to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Monitor and analyze production data to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations for process optimization.
  • Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technology advancements, and regulatory requirements related to production processes.
  • Lead and coach supervisors, technicians, and operators to identify and analyze improvement opportunities by using lean tools (6W2H, C&E, fishbone analysis, 5 whys)
  • Ensure teams understand key performance metrics (OEE, downtime, stops, scrap, and consumer complaints) and how to access data.
  • Create and maintain value stream maps (VSM), bottleneck analyses, and loss Pareto’s to identify priorities and opportunities for business growth.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and other quality tools to monitor and improve process performance.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in production, maintenance, or a process engineering role in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food industry
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies
  • Proficient computer skills, including and not limited to Microsoft Office, and familiarity working with ERP.
  • Availability to travel to multiple sites and to observe and support the off shifts (PM & MN) as needed.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and with a high level of initiative and ADAPTABLILITY.
  • Demonstrates HUMILITY on a day-to-day basis.
