Description:
Purpose: Train and certify company employees and agency associates on all warehouse equipment and procedures. Maintain the appropriate records and reports required for daily shipping inventory control. Monitor and coach employee job performance. Drive process improvement, customer service, and cost reduction. Ensure an orderly and safe workplace. Uphold company policies and procedures to support safe, quality food supply.
Essential Functions- Job Duties: The following duties are considered essential to the job. Qualified individuals must have the ability to perform the following duties.
- Directly supervise distribution employees.
- Train employees on equipment, systems, policies, and procedures.
- Confirm accuracy of transactions and loads.
- Analyze key metrics of productivity and service.
- Ensure all trucks are loaded/unloaded within the specified time frame.
- Rotate inventory by production date code and minimize expired product.
- Verify forklift daily inspections, actions, and record retention to meet OSHA requirements.
- Perform physical inventory and cycle counts.
- Effectively communicate to management, customer service, logistics, or other departments with areas of concern dependent upon the situation.
- Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse with respect to Good Manufacturing Practice.
- Ensure Sanitation Schedule is followed (SSOP)
- Clean up any damaged loads.
- Clean up the spilled debris.
- Engage employees in adhering to the company safety policy and procedures.
- Inspect daily the working conditions, processes, and employee behaviors to ensure a safe work environment.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain accurate accessible records.
- Effectively utilize systems.
- Lead projects and perform assigned duties related to procurement, customer service, logistics, inventory control, and warehouse management.
Confer with other superintendents and managers to coordinate operations, hours, and staffing across shifts and departments.
Secondary Functions – Job Duties: the following duties are considered secondary to the essential function listed above.
Maintain an orderly filing system.
- Answer telephones, take messages, and provide required business photos in a timely manner.
- Assist forklift operators on a daily basis.
- Perform any warehouse task as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise distribution employees. Responsibilities include training employees, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college of technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equipment: Propane and electric forklift, slip sheet attachment, pallet inverter, personal computer workstation, printer, telephone, calculator, stretch wrap machine, hand jack, pallets, dock leveler, battery charger, propane tank, and packaging equipment.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write and speak effectively in groups and is capable to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills: Must understand units that are used in the warehouse and perform calculations to convert between units (e.g. cases and pallets).
Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, NAV, TMS, and WMS.
