JOB DESCRIPTION

Managing vessels’ day-to-day marine functions in close coordination with the fleet team, ensuring safety, security, and environmental performance. The role demands a comprehensive knowledge of Oil/ Chemical cargo operations, including tank cleaning, cargo loading/discharge, and compliance with industry and statutory requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master Mariner) with sea-going experience on Chemical tankers, including loading, discharging, tank cleaning, and preparation for a variety of Chemical cargoes.
  • Preferably 2 years’ experience as a Master.
  • Additional Shore experience will be helpful.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Marine functions of vessels, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain a high standard of safety, security, and environmental compliance.
  • Provide guidance to operations/commercial teams on tank cleaning and risk management.
  • Assist vessels during cargo loading, carriage, and discharge operations.
  • Manage SIRE, Port State Control (PSC), terminal, and other third-party inspections through effective follow-ups and closure of findings.
  • Assist in preparing and closing out TMSA audits.
  • Monitor and ensure vessel compliance with all industry, customer, and statutory requirements.
  • Conduct incident investigations to determine root causes and promote learning across the company.
  • Assess marine and navigational risks for assigned vessels.
  • Assist the fleet team in assessing shipyards for dry docking.
  • Support crewing departments with senior officer appraisal, promotion, and induction processes.
  • Lead briefing and debriefing of senior officers on marine matters.
  • Act as a key team member during emergency response, decision-making and operational stability.
  • Develop and enhance the quality management system, focusing on navigation, cargo handling, and emergency response.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to attend vessel operations, inspections, and audits.
