Description:
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Fluency in English required. German or Norwegian beneficial.
- Minimum two (2) years in a Marine Superintendent position required.
- Shipboard experience required in a senior nautical position, expedition vessel experience preferred.
- Experience working in a multinational global environment.
- Comfortable with travelling to remote destinations as needed.
- Strong verbal, presenting, and written communication skill with experience working with Captains and Chief Engineers.
- Demonstrated experience with time management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable learning new software and applications including independent learning.

Responsibilities:

We bring them off the beaten track, to special destinations across the Arctic, Antarctic, Galapagos, British Isles, Alaska, Northern Norway, and Central / South America.
The HX and BSM Cruise Services – an independent provider of quality ship management services, maritime solutions and technological advancements to the cruise, ferry and yacht industry – formed in 2021 a Joint Venture based in Hamburg, Germany. This Joint Venture “HX TO GmbH” is managing the technical operations of the HX expedition vessels. The Marine Superintendent - Expedition Vessels is responsible for the smooth operation of assigned expedition cruise vessels and provide the required nautical support, in order to achieve the desired levels of safe operational performance and commercial effectiveness. In this role, the Marine Superintendent would be the link to ensuring effective nautical, technical, and commercial communication. This is role functions as an individual contributor.

This position is primarily based in Hamburg. If you are located elsewhere, remote with extensive travel or relocation to Hamburg can be discussed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Play a key role in the safe delivery and execution of the Marine Superintendent duties and the safety of HX vessels.
- Capable Marine Superintendent that is focused on driving results while building relationships with Captains, and Chief Engineers.
- Reviews operational standards and proposes solutions to drive effective operation of the navigational and operational aspects of assigned vessels.
- Ensures that assigned vessels possess the required statutory certification for safe operation in accordance with Class, Port State Control and Flag State requirements, maritime legislation, safety regulations and operational standards.
- Oversees and monitors the overall safety, security, nautical and operational aspects of the assigned ships.
- Executes vessel’s inspections for effective operations and as prescribed by Company SMS and International regulations.
- Monitors and assesses the navigation, communication, safety and other nautical equipment needs of each vessel in cooperation with Technical Superintendent.
- Proactive communicator, with patience. Incorporates effective listening as key to problem solving.
- Drives results while also keeping a commitment to the guest experience.
