Job Description
In the ocean of legal complexity, our team navigates with determination towards legal success. From Fugro’s headquarters in Leidschendam, you will be part of the Legal team of Global Fleet Services for the Netherlands.
You are not just a legal advisor; you are a strategic partner for your colleagues, providing them with legal advice as well as taking a practical approach. The team is involved in drafting contracts for the charter of vessels, contracts for the repair/maintenance of our own fleet, the purchase of vessels, the transfer of vessels, flagging/registration of vessels, maritime insurance claims, shipbuilding contracts, the operation of unmanned/autonomous vessels, crewing contracts, and compliance with the flag state under which the vessels operate.
In the Legal team, you are an indispensable link. Together with your team members, you work intensively on the further professionalization of your role. You are part of a global network, collaborating with Legal teams in different parts of the world. Whether it involves compliance, intellectual property, or other specialized areas, you are at the forefront of shaping the legal future of Global Fleet Services.

Your role

  • Assess, negotiate, and advise on contracts in accordance with internal guidelines. You will also draft contracts yourself;
  • Support the commercial and business development teams in entering into contracts and project teams with claims during project execution;
  • Support the management of the Global Fleet Services organization in business development, including assessing partnership and collaboration agreements;
  • Provide internal training on legal topics, including contracting and terms;
  • Develop improvements in procedures and standardization to enhance the efficiency of legal support.

Your track record

  • You are a qualified shipping lawyer with over two years of dedicated legal experience within a maritime environment, specializing in maritime practice, P&I clubs, or similar sectors.
  • You have demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team and foster strong professional relationships.
  • You are proficient in raising awareness of legal issues through constructive communication and guidance.
  • You have excellent proficiency both oral and written in English.
