A Day in the Life
Knowledge of local language and experience in Market access and Government affairs industry.
As a Market Access & Governmental Affairs Lead, you will lead effective Market Access & Governmental Affairs for selected portfolio of Medtronic Romania in patient-centric, collaborative, and cross-functional manner with internal and external stakeholders. You will manage Market Access & Governmental Affairs networking (with government bodies, Health care professionals, Patient advocacy groups, industry associations etc,) to drive acceptance for selected new assets, local pathways, protocols, or other access enablers through utilizing relevant demographic, epidemiological, clinical, and economic data.

This role is to support negotiations with authorities on pricing, reimbursement, local pathways, service models, HTA and other enabling mechanisms affecting designated products, including innovative pricing, and contracting. It is also to provide proactive and timely input to the Country Manager Romania and Moldova and Market Access and Strategic Partnerships Lead CEE on possible opportunities and risks relative to Market Access for selected portfolio.

  • Proactively analyse and learn about healthcare environment with a special focus on Governmental Affairs & Market Access issues (pricing and reimbursement regulations, limitations of referral systems, evidence-based medicine and understanding of healthcare funding).
  • Lead effective cross-functional Market Access / Governmental Affairs integrated project team in Romania, by engaging Regulatory, Medical, Marketing and Commercial colleagues, in regular and structured exchange resulting with clear action plans, roles and responsibilities, and follow-ups.
  • Liaise on a daily basis with country Commercial colleagues to understand business strategies and relevant business insights on unmet medical needs to identify potential opportunities and risks related to Market Access.
  • Collect, combine, and transfer relevant internal insights with insights from external stakeholders on related unmet medical need into compelling short-term, mid-term and long-term Market Access / Governmental Affairs strategy and tactics.
  • Lead compelling and compliant communication of unmet medical need to relevant Market Access / Governmental Affairs stakeholders, to achieve awareness, acceptance and willingness to make improvements.
  • Proactively liaise with Medical colleagues in creation of timely local medical evidence and lead obtainment of health economic evidence via usage of Market Access models and tools to show positive health economy for selected portfolio.

Must Haves

  • 5+ years of work experience in the local Health Care Industry and other relevant areas, preferably in pharmaceutical industry
  • Successful multiyear Market Access experience within a multinational company with strong reputation in the country and/or served in the public sector on health care policy
  • Strong understanding of healthcare funding, health economics and successful utilization of Market Access models and tools
  • Proven track record on developing initiatives with national or regional authorities and other Market Access stakeholders in Romania
  • Ability to work effectively and deliver outstanding results in a complex cross-functional environment
  • University Diploma, preferable in Life science or Health Economics. A PhD and/or western M.B.A. degree would be an asset in this position
  • Fluent local language speaker; fluent Business English (both written and oral); any other Eastern European Language is an asset
