Ohio State Online is within the Office of Academic Affairs and serves as a central role in supporting colleges and departments in online programs offerings. OSO supports critical functions in the growth of online higher education including Market Research, Marketing, Recruiting, Reenrollment, and Instructional Design. The OSO team leads and supports Ohio State’s growing online portfolio with the goal of increasing the number of learners engaged with and enrolled in our online offerings.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Market Research Analyst role supports Ohio State Online (OSO) by providing relevant and actionable market research and data driven insights that help develop, position, and launch new programs, grow enrollment, use consumer informed data, and strengthen the Ohio State brand. The Market Research Analyst uses a variety of industry tools, inclusive of existing secondary data sources, internal data sources, and primary research (Qualitative and Quantitative) to answer business questions and provide actionable insights for university decision-making across Ohio State Online including marketing, recruitment, and reenrollments. The types of research areas include academic program evaluation, inclusive of new program assessment, whitespace opportunity and competitive program analysis; student lifecycle research, segmentation/personas, marketing evaluation and ad hoc research. The role utilizes big data sets from vendors, internal data sets, market research vendors and Qualtrics research platform to collect and analyze data.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, market research, marketing, or related field.

A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in market research, or a related field, including primary and secondary research, scoping and designing research, analysis, insight generation and reporting and presenting of data and insights.

  • Qualitative and Quantitative research experience
  • Primary research data collection including sampling and survey design
  • Use of Qualtrics or other online research platforms for programming and reporting of data
  • Knowledge and use of secondary data sources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to match message delivery to audience needs
  • Excellent problem-solving and task-management abilities
  • Collaborative, strong customer service orientation and relationship builder

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced degree in market research, data analytics, statistics, or other area that offers a solid background in quantitative research methods
  • Familiarity with the higher educator sector and deeper knowledge of market research experience overall
    This position is highly flexible and allows team members the option to work remotely. Candidates with the ability to attend some functions on Ohio State’s Columbus campus are preferred, but remote employees who can work during ET business hours will also be considered.
