Market Risk Data Governance Team Lead
The cornerstone of Morgan Stanley’s risk management philosophy is the execution of risk-adjusted returns through prudent risk-taking that protects Morgan Stanley’s capital base and franchise. Risk Management protects the firm from exposure to losses resulting from defaults by our lending and trading counterparties. The Risk Management Division is responsible for the independent identification, analysis, reporting and escalation of all market, credit and operational risk exposures arising from the Firm’s business activities, acting independently of business management and providing an effective challenge process.

You will:
- Lead in defining and converting the Market Risk Department’s global strategy into data standards, architecture, processes and requirements
- Managing a team of 5 Market Risk Data Governance Specialists
- Work with other departments to provide market risk related requirements for policies, procedures and tooling
- Deliver high quality management information to support senior stakeholders across the Firm in discussions and in the decision-making process for data related projects
- Drive data-related projects in a variety of key programs across the Firm (e.g., Risk Data Catalog, Risk Data Aggregation, Data Lineage, FRTB, BCBS 239, etc.) to develop strategic solutions
- Support risk representation and data strategy efforts globally
- Interface and manage relationships with internal stakeholders within the wider Risk Management division and the Front Office
QUALIFICATIONS
You ideally have:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in managing a multi-cultural team
- Ability to set, organize and manage the book of work of the team
- Ability to work independently
- Proficient in written and verbal communication (in English)
- Experience in a financial or a data related role
- Desire to learn about and understand financial markets, risk management concepts and models, financial products
- Attention to detail and prioritization skills will be key in balancing daily deadlines with timely implementation of strategic projects
- Ability to build good working relationships across a number of different areas and regions
- Basic familiarity with handling and analyzing large datasets is favorable on at least one platform such as Excel, MatLab, R, Python, VBA or SQL BPDBA
Team Profile:
The Market Risk Data Governance team is part of the Market Risk Department (a risk stripe within the Risk Management division), leads the effort in setting market risk data standards and in data governance by partnering with several stakeholders. The team is the prime point of contact to identify and escalate thematic strategic data issues and projects to senior Firm management while ensuring compliance with global regulations.
