Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing market and trading systems used by the company. The role is expected to progressively achieve expertise at supporting third-party systems as well as systems developed in-house.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience
- Knowledge of US power and commodity hedging markets is preferred
- Ability to diagnose and resolve software issues effectively
- Experience with relational databases (MSSQL, T-SQL preferred)
- Working knowledge of programming fundamentals (C# or Python experience preferred)
- Understanding and appreciation for cybersecurity (familiarity with NERC-CIP standards is a plus)
- Willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies, software tools, and industry trends
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with business units to gather requirements and understand needs for custom software or tools
- Monitor and maintain existing software systems used in trade capture, risk management, and revenue forecasting
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, ensuring minimal downtime for critical operations
- Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure security and efficiency
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following the company’s development standards
- Write scripts and tools to automate data extraction, processing, and reporting to assist with decision-making
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in reporting tools that impact operational and regulatory compliance
- Facilitate seamless data flow between different applications and databases used by the company
- Recommend enhancements that improve system efficiency, reduce resource consumption, and ensure scalability
- Implement security best practices, such as access control, encryption, and logging to protect critical infrastructure
- Interface with the vendors to ensure the quality of the third-party solutions
- Achieve compliance certifications, as required, for the role and/or assigned systems
- Maintain positive, enabling and supportive demeanor in engaging internal clients
- Pursue proactive measures to establish functional knowledge of the Company’s business and systems
- Willingness and ability to occasionally support business needs during irregular hours, weekends and holidays, as might be required
