JOB SUMMARY:

The Strategic Pricing Analyst owns and manages the existing tactical pricing infrastructure for Lift, Season Pass (Epic Pass), and ancillary service (e.g. Ski School) products! This role will support cross-functional initiatives including: managing live pricing decks, pricing inputs, pricing changes, and website pricing uploads, pricing research, revenue forecasting/modeling, reporting, competitive intelligence, go-to market plans, price testing, and the analysis and implementation of new strategic programs and products. The Strategic Pricing Analyst should have a proven track record as a high potential candidate by demonstrating: drive, ambition, business acumen, and emotional intelligence!
This role sits on the Strategic Pricing team, which has ownership of analysis, insights, and strategy for key pricing decisions including lift ticket and season pass products. In this role, you will be required to analyze and manage large data sets and provide insights with actionable and concise recommendations. You will also be expected to demonstrate learning agility and the drive to take on new topics or projects. The Pricing team is part of the larger Marketing Analytics organization, which has a mission to use Vail Resorts’ proprietary guest data to generate measurable insights that unlock value for the business. The Marketing Analytics organization advises insight-driven strategic decision-making across the entire enterprise.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Some experience with Tableau and SQL, but strong MS Excel experience preferred (index/match, sumifs, pivot tables, and handling large complex data sets). Validated experience in driving measurable recommendations and decisions based upon insights derived from data.
  • Strong project management and organization skills are crucial. Should possess to ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate across multiple functions within an organization.
  • Attention to detail and extreme accuracy working with large datasets, experience developing tools for streamlined analysis, and crafting output that succinctly summarize sophisticated concepts.
  • Validated strength in written and verbal communication, adjusting message to audience. Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own and handle tactical pricing operations related to the product and pricing infrastructure across all Lift and Season Pass products.
  • Help build solutions that allow pricing input and change processes to be more automated, dynamic, and efficient.
  • Drive improvements in competitive intelligence and reporting.
  • Advise key partners of pricing dynamics and key performance indicators throughout the ski season.
  • Develop and distribute periodic reporting including price performance, price/mix analysis, benchmarking, and other information that provides context related to pricing strategies and tactics.
  • Support the development of pricing recommendations, provide and present analysis and insights that drive pricing approvals, and implement pricing strategies that support key business objectives across lift ticket and season pass lines of business for specific resorts.
  • Implement pricing tests to assess revenue opportunities, supervise performance, and recommend long term actions based on results.
  • Work closely with Analytics, Resort Marketing, Product, Mountain Operations, Finance, and other business stakeholders to: develop and conduct appropriate analytics, add precision to existing methodologies, and develop metrics that are key to enabling pricing optimization.
