ABOUT US

Western Research, under the leadership of the Vice-President (Research), is responsible for ensuring that Western has vibrant and growing interaction with various sources of research funding and that the faculties have increasing funding for their research programs. It is also responsible to ensure a healthy flow of technology resulting from Western research to the commercial world thereby creating jobs, increasing economic development and the general betterment of society.

As a Marketing Assistant, you will contribute to crafting and delivering compelling content across various channels, enhancing our brand presence, engaging our audience, and supporting our mission. Additionally, you will provide support for our educational programs. This position offers valuable experience in marketing, communications, and design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, MailChimp.
  • Wordpress experience is a plus.
  • Copywriting and editing experience is a plus.
  • Both Graduate and Undergraduate students are invited to apply.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITY:

  • Experience developing videos, articles, website, and social media content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Professional demeanour.
  • Responsible, adaptable, and eager to learn, showing initiative.
  • Ability to multitask, determine priorities, and work with deadlines.
  • Competent in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Competent with various online social networks (Twitter, LinkedIn).
  • Candidates currently enrolled in FIMS programs are strongly encouraged to apply.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical knowledge in Science related fields with some business understanding.
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Familiar with database searching.
  • Familiar with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in marketing projects by developing marketing materials and supporting documents.
  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite and MailChimp to create visually appealing graphics aligned with our brand across social media, websites, and email campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, supporting team members in various tasks and projects.
  • Manage social media pages by drafting, proposing, and creating content to schedule and post.
  • Develop and deliver engaging content, including web copy, social media posts, newsletters, marketing collateral, and more.
  • Support day-to-day marketing needs.
  • Promote a culture of innovation on campus.
