Description:

The Nature Trust of British Columbia is a leading non-profit land conservation organization dedicated to protecting the natural riches of British Columbia by buying, restoring, and caring for B.C.’s ecologically significant habitats. Since 1971, The Nature Trust of BC and its partners have saved more than 180,000 acres of ecologically vulnerable wetlands, grasslands, and forests for generations to come.
We are seeking a Marketing Communications Manager to play a vital role in ensuring that The Nature Trust of British Columbia communicates with one voice across all communication channels.
This position is responsible for engaging our key audiences and leveraging the power of existing and new platforms to grow our brand. A commitment to storytelling sits at the heart of our strategy. This role will work closely with The Nature Trust of BC’s leaders and conservation teams to develop creative approaches to grow and engage our audience reach and support revenue development.
The successful candidate will have a creative flair, a passion for storytelling, and strong marketing communications skills that will support The Nature Trust’s strategic plan.
This is a full-time permanent position reporting to the Director of Development, Marketing and Communications. This position reports to 500-888 Dunsmuir St., Vancouver, BC.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or communications, journalism, public relations, or equivalent.
  • Three to five years’ experience as a journalist, press officer, or media relations officer.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a marketing communications role at an environmental or conservation organization, including creating and implementing fundraising marketing communications campaigns.
  • Proven technical skills in:
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition, After Effects, Premier Pro)
  • Canva
  • Google Analytics

Responsibilities:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the implementation of the Marketing and Communications strategy to support the NTBC brand identity and strategic imperatives; leverage channels and formats including email, earned media, social media, print publications, paid media, and other communication tools and techniques that advance organizational objectives, particularly for conservation and fundraising initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate marketing and communications strategies and tactics.
  • Coordinate media relations, including writing and editing press releases, liaising with media, briefing Nature Trust spokespeople and coordinating interviews.
  • Develop the organization’s storytelling ability to connect our cause with all key stakeholders and audiences.
  • Translate science-based conservation information to a wider audience.
  • Identify new marketing communication opportunities to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Spot opportunities to test and implement new ideas and approaches that grow our reach, brand awareness, and revenue.
  • Work closely with the other department leads to bring innovative communication approaches to our key audiences to support revenue generation.
  • With the guidance of the Director of Development, Marketing and Communications, manage marketing and communications initiatives including brand management, short and long-term marketing plans, event management, online and offline promotional materials, website design and content, media relations, crisis communications support, and content creation to increase engagement across social media channels.
  • Lead the coordination and production of the Annual Review/Impact Report.
  • Lead the internal communications strategy to maintain effective communications with staff and stakeholders.
  • Work with the Director of Development, Marketing and Communications to segment key stakeholder groups and develop tailored messaging.
  • Analyze all marketing activity to measure effectiveness and optimize return on investment and delivery against KPIs.
  • Prepare regular management status reports on all aspects of the organization’s marketing and communications activity for the Management Team and Board of Directors.
  • Work closely with agencies, where appropriate, to ensure consistently high-quality output and return on investment.
  • Project manage production of video and photography assets, work with external vendors, develop and maintain project deadlines, create project briefs, participate in storyboarding, and identify and schedule media interviews.
